Hilary graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Sanskrit - which she maintains is the perfect introduction to studying tax! She trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in Reading, working in the Personal Tax and Trust department, before joining E A Kench & Co in 1993. Although the majority of her time is spent dealing with personal taxation, as Directors' Assistant, she is also involved with the full spectrum of the firm's work through technical research on company secretarial matters, corporation tax, small charities, National Insurance Contributions and Value Added Tax. When she is not at work, she plays the flute and viola, enjoys chocolate tasting, and spends as much time as she can with her family.

Sandra started her working life in a bank, and then moved to the accounts department of the Wellcome Foundation. She then worked as a Learning Support Assistant and administrator in a school in Canterbury, helping children with dyslexia and related learning difficulties. On moving to Henley in November 2000, Sandra embarked on a new career as Tax Assistant at E A Kench & Co, completing Self Assessment Tax Returns and dealing with all aspects of personal taxation where she enjoys the daily challenges that the job presents. When relaxing, Sandra enjoys cruising in the family boat on the Thames - "It's so peaceful", she says. She also likes gardening and cooking, and is renowned for the delicious chocolate cakes that she brings into the office. As an inveterate traveller she has in the past been on a world tour, taking the equivalent of three years' holiday allowance at once and visiting Hong Kong, Australia and San Francisco.
