Lisa Tipping LISA TIPPING Lisa is no stranger to the Henley area, as she has lived in Caversham all her life. She is a graduate of Bournemouth University with a 2.1 degree in Accountancy. Lisa embarked on her accountancy career at Haines Watts in Reading, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Soon after qualifying Lisa joined the team at E A Kench & Co in October 2002 as an Audit Senior, being promoted to Supervisor in 2003 and Partners' Assistant in 2006. In her free time, Lisa strives to keep fit, maintains a busy social life and is an ardent supporter of Manchester City.
James Macauley JAMES MACAULAY James joined us in 2005, as a Trainee Chartered Accountant, having just completed his degree at Kingston University, where he achieved an impressive First in Business Studies. James spent 12 months working with the Finance Team at British Gas during his University placement year. Outside of work, James enjoys a variety of sports including badminton, pool and football but, as a season-ticket holder and avid supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, he spends much of his time preferring to watch the professionals at play. The intra-company football allegiances do not generally mar our good working environment though. James has travelled extensively within the USA and has visited many countries within Europe. He enjoys socialising with his friends, watching sport and going to gigs and the cinema.
Paul Shephard PAUL SHEPHARD Paul graduated from the University of Surrey with a 2.2 degree in Accountancy in 1998. He joined E A Kench & Co in March 2003, following four years of working for two local accountancy practices. Paul’s main area of work is the preparation and audit of client accounts. Paul, an honest man, prefers to leave sporting activities to others but supports them as a dedicated armchair sports fanatic. He spends the remainder of his free time socialising with friends, watching American TV shows and reading. He currently lives in Binfield.
Mark Ring MARK RING Mark joined us in 2005, as an Accounts Senior, thereby complementing the expanding Accounts and Audit team. He has added to his previous experience in Practice by working in industry over the previous few years but now feels that practice is more interesting and is happy to get back into a "proper" role. On the sports field, Mark enthusiastically plays football for his local team, FC Priestwood and also plays a strong round of golf. He too is an ardent supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, adding to the heated debate of football allegiances over the coffee machine. Mark has travelled extensively within Australia, starting at Cairns and following the Gold Coast down to Sydney. He has also toured around the United States, the Dominican Republic and within Europe. A modern man at heart, he does all the cooking at home.
Hilary Reeve HILARY REEVE Hilary graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Sanskrit - which she maintains is the perfect introduction to studying tax! She trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in Reading, working in the Personal Tax and Trust department, before joining E A Kench & Co in 1993. As Partners’ Assistant, she is concerned with the full spectrum of the firm’s work. She is particularly involved with technical research, company formations, personal and corporation tax, small charities, National Insurance Contributions and the technical aspects of Value Added Tax. When she is not at work, she plays the flute and viola, enjoys chocolate tasting, and spends as much time as she can with her family.
Sandra Gobbett SANDRA GOBBETT Sandra started her working life in a bank, and then moved to the accounts department of the Wellcome Foundation. She then worked as a Learning Support Assistant and administrator in a school in Canterbury, helping children with dyslexia and related learning difficulties. On moving to Henley in November 2000, Sandra embarked on a new career as Tax Assistant at E A Kench & Co, completing Self Assessment Tax Returns and dealing with all aspects of personal taxation. She enjoys the daily challenges that the job presents, and in 2005 was promoted to Tax Supervisor of the ever expanding Tax Department. When relaxing, Sandra enjoys cruising in the family boat on the Thames – "It’s so peaceful", she says. She also likes gardening and cooking, and is renowned for the delicious chocolate cakes that she brings into the office. As an inveterate traveller she has recently been on a world tour, taking the equivalent of three years' holiday allowance at once and visiting Hong Kong, Australia and San Francisco.
RACHAEL HEEKS Rachael joined us in June 2005, as a Tax Assistant in the ever growing Tax Department. Although Rachael was born in the North of England, she has spent much of her life living in the area and went to school locally, at The Piggott School, Wargrave and recently bought her first home in Arborield. Rachael has held different accountancy positions with local companies but is now glad to have landed on her feet at E A Kench & Co. Her natural affinity for numbers and attention to detail stands her in good stead. Rachael loves the friendly, relaxed environment in which she works. In her spare time, she enjoys local country walks, mountain biking, horse riding and likes to spend time with her partner and family.
